Coloring Continued

I mentioned the boys coloring in my last post. This evening, we were looking at what they did in Sunday School. First we looked at Logan's papers. He had a Palm Sunday scene that was colored in the typical fashion of scribbled blue, purple, and red. With a sheepish look on his face, he says, "I used more than one color." The next page was a close-up of Jesus' face (colored blue,of course) and Logan had placed circular stickers of children on the palm branches around his face. Next...Owen. We were shocked to see Owen's first picture...palm branches were green, Jesus' face was light brown, his hair was dark brown, etc. Jacob and I carried on, as we do, jumping and shouting about how amazing his coloring was! We turned to the next page to see the circular kid stickers pasted onto Jesus' face! "Owen! What is this?" "Jesus wearing sunglasses?" I love my children and I am so glad that I'm not there teacher! :)

Wise Guy

The boys have drastically regressed in their coloring lately. Every picture that they color is blue. The entire page is blue. Today, I told Logan to color a book that we were working on reading. I said, "And I don't want you to color the whole page blue. You need to use more than one color." Then, as is my life these days, I got distracted with someone else. When I turned back to Logan, he was diligently coloring with a little smirk on his face. As I looked closer, I saw that he had five crayons in one hand and was coloring the entire page!

Time to Seek Professional Help?

This is a great picture to show the usual state of Logan and Owen's hair(before it was cut). (I love that they're wearing the same shirt while seeing the front of Logan's face and the back of Owen's...capturing the entire hair-do in one picture...the beauty of twins!) Anyway, I usually let the boys' hair grow long for several reasons. The main reason being that I like it, but other reasons include that it seems to really bother some people and I think it's quite ridiculous to care so much about somebody else's hair, so I laugh to myself as I listen to other's comments. Also, it takes time to cut hair and we usually can find many other things that we'd rather do with our time. But, finally, last week, we were all sick and not doing much of anything so I thought I might as well cut their hair. I'll admit that it didn't turn out all that great this time, but, in my mind, it's cut for another 4 months, so what's the big deal? So, the comment's we've received so far are, "Don't you think it's a little short on top and long in back?" "Ah...it gives 'em character." But my favorite was a mere 4 days after I cut their hair, we had a retired hair-dresser stay at our house. She said, "I wish I could stay longer. I'd cut their hair." I think it might be time to pass on the scissors!

At least I won't need to deal with Annika's hair anytime in the near future!

Just a couple of photos from our recent day in Goldendale.

Like Mother, Like Daughter

Perhaps Anne of Green Gables is not the most exciting read for a 5 month old, but, like me, Annika seems to be born with the gift of falling asleep most anywhere at most anytime in most any position!

Comedy

Yesterday, Owen was messing around on our exercise ball and he became pretty good at diving onto it and then doing a flip onto the couch. Logan came into the room and Owen said, "Hey Logan, watch what I can do." He proceeded to dive onto the exercise ball and do a flip off of the ball, hitting the side of the couch and crashing onto the floor. Logan, with a look of confusion, said, "Wow. That's great Owen."

Tonight, Logan found a paper "rocket" and threw it up into the air. Annika gave a big belly laugh, so Logan kept throwing it up into the air. Each throw brought another belly laugh from Annika. He picked it up to throw it again, but tripped over backwards and then hit his head on the desk getting up. This produced the greatest belly laugh ever from Annika. Logan, however, was not laughing. I believe he said something like, "You stinky Kiki!" Fortunately, I don't think she was offended:)

Today, we found ourselves in Yakima with our lunch still in the fridge in Bickleton. We didn't have much time before dentist appts. so we went to a local diner that was nearby. I noticed that we were BY FAR the youngest people in the diner, but this was confirmed for me when I went to the bathroom and found that not only did they lack a diaper changing table, but all of the toilet seats had lifts on them! Too funny! But it was nice of all of the grandparents (actually, I think they were more like great grandparents) to smother Annika and the boys with sweet comments as they walked by our table.

And the last story of the evening is not total comedy, it's just kind of sweet. Logan was praying for me before he went to bed and he prayed his normal, "...and please help Mama to be nice (this is my favorite and often most needed request!)..." and then he finished off his prayer with "and please, please, please help Mama to fly in her dreams tonight because it is SOOOO much fun. Amen." And now I'm off to bed with high hopes of flying tonight:)

Sunday School

The boys brought a picture home from Sunday School that they had colored. I asked Owen to tell me about it. He said, "That's Jesus and that's King Harper." I didn't recall a King Harper in the Bible so I asked him who King Harper was. He said rather emphatically, "Not King Harper...The king's helper." Right:) I then asked Logan what the king's helper was talking to Jesus about. He said, "He wants him to make his son get up and dance." (and then he did a little dance around the room) And that's the story of Jesus Healing the Official's Son. I love to hear the Bible through the mouths of children:)

Happy Baby and SVA Boys

A happy Kiki at 4 1/2 months.

We've been having Savoonga-like weather lately with high winds and blowing icy snow. The other day we walked to the school. Annika was sleeping cozily in her stroller beneath multiple layers of blankets and her "weather shield" while the boys looked like this. It brought back fond memories of walking in Savoonga.
